Breaking News - Langley United Soccer Awarded BCSPL February 2, 2020

BC Soccer News Release Here.

Langley United Soccer Association (LUSA) is pleased to advise that we have joined the already announced 39 clubs nationwide to be awarded Canada Soccer National Youth Club Licence.

As the highest amateur youth club designation in Canada Soccer Club Licensing Program, the National Youth Club Licence recognizes the highest achieving organizations from across Canada. The Program is a key component to Canada Soccer Safe Sport Roster that was announced with unanimous support by its membership in May of 2019.

Langley United has been granted the National Youth Club Licence for a period of two years and have created a collaborative work plan to ensure that we continue to meet the requirements, while also continuing to progress to further achieve the highest standards set by Canada Soccer. National Youth Club Licence holders display characteristics and demonstrate behaviours aligned with the highest expectations of governance, administration, infrastructure, and technical.

LUSA President Marcel Horn said “It is truly a great day for our club. For the past 5 years LUSA has been working tirelessly with BC Soccer and more recently Canada Soccer to achieve the necessary national licensing standards to be able to offer the highest level of youth soccer in our province, the BCSPL. We are thrilled to say that today we have achieved our goal!   I would like to thank our Technical Directors, board members, and coaches for their exceptional
commitment to this endeavour over the past 5 years. I feel privileged to work with such a dedicated, talented group and I am very excited to be able to offer LUSA BCSPL teams to our players and membership going forward. We are incredibly proud of the quality of our youth programming here at LUSA, Canada Soccer has taken notice of all that we have accomplished as a club by awarding us with the Canada Soccer National Youth Club License. #LUSAPROUD”

Technical Director Mark Parker said “We are very proud of our Club and the efforts of each board member and staff member that has contributed to our success. It is a great step forward for LUSA, who will now join the ranks of the highest level of programming in BC, the BCSPL. This will see the instruction of the 2008 birth year players for the upcoming 2020/21 Fall season. It will be a tough road ahead, not only do we want to place the highest quality program in BC, but the program that each player desires to be part of. We look forward to continuing to work with

BC Soccer and Canada Soccer in the future, for the benefit of the game, the players that play it and the families that support and watch, good times ahead.”
Why have we fought so hard for this licensing?  LUSA has always set a very high standard for player development. However, every year our top players have had to consider switching clubs by the U13 level if they were interested in pursuing training at the BCSPL level. Indeed, we have a large number of LUSA players already playing with other clubs in the BCSPL for this reason.

We are thrilled to be able to offer our high performance players the opportunity to play at the BCSPL level, and not have to travel outside of our club or community to do it. The number of hours many of our former players have spent commuting just to be able to participate in the BCSPL is eye opening- we would much rather all of those driving hours were actually spent on the pitch! Now that LUSA has the National Youth Club License, our players will finally have the opportunity to pursue whatever level of soccer they want, right here at home.
