Stages of Development - Training To Win

Ages 19+

Objective: High performance. Consistent performance. Peak performance. Technique on demand and tactically flexible. A role model of True Sport values.

LUYSA will:

  • Fine tune ancillary capacities, techniques and tactics.
  • Model all possible aspects of training and performance.
  • Train participants to peak for major competitions.
  • Allow for frequent preventative breaks to reduce risk of injury and burnout.
  • Utilize an annual soccer program with one, two, three or multiple competitive seasons.
  • 25% training to 75% competition (and competition-related training).
  • Provide soccer-specific technical, tactical and ancillary capacities training 9 to 15 times per week, year round.

Outside of soccer the family should:

  • Understand that elite soccer players peak through early to mid 20’s in females and mid to late 20’s in males.
  • Prepare for eventual transition from competitive to recreational sport.
