Dear LUSA members,
What is normally one of the most anticipated pockets on our family and club calendar has quickly taken a different form.
Within the last 24 hours the impact of the COVID19 (Coronavirus) has been felt Nationwide as all organized professional sporting events and leagues have suspended activities.
LUSA prides itself on providing a safe haven for our youth to enjoy the outdoors and learn the sport of soccer. As one of the largest clubs by membership numbers within the Fraser Valley, we take this role and its associated responsibilities seriously.
While there is still much to learn about the specifics of this Virus, there is to date only one proven effective action which works towards lowering the transmission rate and that is to reduce social engagements.
As a community, we will need to relax our expectations on how we hope the next few weeks will play out and adopt a proactive role in contributing to a solution. By limiting our gatherings and outings to mandatory activities, we will help to slow the transmission rate and afford the public health bodies more time to organize, study, and work towards a solution.
LUSA will hereby follow the lead of the leading global sporting associations and suspend all soccer activities for the next 30 days. Across these 30 days, we will monitor the situation in hopes that soccer activities will resume after the Easter holiday.
In the weeks ahead, we wish for a safe break from school for our membership and are confident that as a community, we will emerge more knowledgeable and capable to address such outbreaks.
Those members who have already registered for the LUSA Spring Break Camp will be contacted with refunding options.
