Junior's League PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 25 July 2007

The Juniors league is a separate league from our regular Mini League. It is an option to join a specific league for motivated players to further hone their skills. (The regular U9 and U10 divisions will still run as well for players not interested in this option.) With the time commitment involved for players, they would not be involved in both.

The purpose of the Juniors program is to further develop focused players for the future. Juniors will be a heightened intensity with additional training sessions. The group is overseen by a certified Level B Master coach with the help of club coaches.

Overview

The Juniors league is a separate league from our regular Mini League. It is an option to join a specific league for motivated players to further hone their skills. (The regular U9 and U10 divisions will still run as well for players not interested in this option.) With the time commitment involved for players, they would not be involved in both.

The purpose of the Juniors program is to further develop focused players for the future. Juniors will be a heightened intensity with additional training sessions. The group is overseen by a certified Level B Master coach with the help of club coaches.

League Structure

The time commitment is at least 2 practices and 1 game per week plus tournaments and additional traveling times to some games. Player/coach/team-mate requests will not be taken and you may have to travel further (but within Langley) for practices. See the frequently answered questions for more detail.

The league will commence in early to late August 2007 (exact data TBD) and will run for about 30 weeks (end of March). We understand that some will be on vacation then and expect that the attendance initially may not be full.

NOTE Changes for 2008/09 - Juniors will be sorted into season-long teams. For the player that wants more i.e. challenge, games, advancement to rep soccer, a short tryout session  is scheduled for June 21st/08 for a INTRODUCTORY DIVISIONAL PROGRAM.  After a brief start in the fall, a few rosters will be determined for entrance to a U11 rep league.

The players not interested in the tryouts for Introduction to Divisional soccer, the program will remain similar with exactly the same training, they will be playing each other week in and week out, with the occasional games against outside Clubs in exhibition or tournament series (Whitecaps).

This program will continue to be one of the most comprehensive training programs in the entire Lower Mainland for 8 and 9 year olds. They will also have the Hotshotz option as well to get the training to game ratio to the recommended 3:1.

Players

This league would not be for every player/family. The ideal player for this league needs to have the passion, desire and the ability to commit to soccer. (The focus is skill building in a high energy and fun environment!) If the player enjoys many other interests as well, the regular Mini League may be more suitable for player time management.

Other considerations include:

Would the player available for 3 (or sometimes 4) weekly soccer sessions per week?
Would the player be available to travel to games and tournaments?

Each player is not going to be selected for every tournament. Is the player (and parent) ready to face the possible disappointment of not being selected join every tournament?

League Fees

The league fee is $200 for the full season.  Each player must pay the Basic Registration fee as well.

The Online registration fee menu will have two options. Registration fee with Jr. Fee included or if you have to just pay the Add-on fee $200.00 make that your selection.

The league fees account for a paid Master Coach and Staff coaches who will run two practices and one game a week. Uniforms and a training kit are included.
The cost of entering in tournaments is NOT part of the league fee.
