It is also expected that all coaches/managers adhere to a certain code of conduct when traveling with a team so that LUYSA is represented appropriately. Some of the expectations are outlined below.

Travel Preparation

Coaches/managers must ensure that they have the following information prior to travel:

1. Medical Card or ID Number and information sheet on any pertinent Medical items for all players
2. Permission to travel form signed by parent/guardian of each player.
3. All necessary equipment including balls, cones, pinnies, first aid kit.
4. A Schedule of all team functions/games must be communicated to the parents prior to the trip. This is to include all contact details for the coach/manager and the hotels.

While Away

Coaches are representatives of LUYSA and must conduct themselves appropriately and must be able to respond to any emergency or non-emergency situation. The consumption of alcohol is not recommended.

A coach/assistant coach/manager/medical officer with the medical information needs to be present with the team at all team functions.

Coaches must ensure that all players have appropriate supervision during free time. No player is to go anywhere alone. At no time should a single player be alone in any room with an adult unless that adult is the player’s parent.

If a player is sent home from the trip due to inappropriate behaviour, that player must be supervised.

Coaches should ensure that players do not watch any television programming unsuitable for their age. Consider approaching the front desk at the hotel to request that certain channels be blocked.

Coaches must dress appropriately at all times.

Each team must have an appropriate number of chaperones/adults for the group of players. Recommended numbers are as follows (at a minimum):

-          U11 – U13: 1 adult for every 4 players

-          U14 – U15: 1 adult for every 6 players

-          U17 – U18: 1 adult for every 9 players

Coaches shall oversee the parents as supervisors and are responsible for their actions while supervising.

 

Parents/Chaperones

All parents/chaperones accompanying the team on the trip must conduct themselves appropriately at all team functions/games. They will perform supervisory duties as assigned by the head coach.
