Page 4 of 5 U6 – U10 Guidelines1. The priority in U6 – U10 games is for fun and development. No score to be kept. 2. All players should receive equal playing time. 3. All players must wear shin pads and soccer boots or approved footwear. 4. Substitution is unlimited and should be made during stoppages in play only. Every player should be inserted in the starting line-up on a rotation basis. 5. All players are encouraged to play all positions including goal. 6. Restarts from goals are kickoffs at centre. 7. Slide tackling is to be discouraged. 8. LUYSA will not sanction any select teams younger than U11. 9. All free kicks will be categorized as indirect. 10. Coaches, managers, team officials and spectators will refrain from criticizing referees and shall encourage and be responsible for the same attitude from players. 11. All goal kicks to be taken from the edge of the goalkeeper area. 12. Coaches, parents and spectators will not be allowed behind the goal lines. 13. With the exception of the following guidelines, all other BC Soccer Rules and Regulations apply. 14. All field and goal dimensions are approximate. U6 Guidelines:1. Field size – 18 x 25 metres (minimum); 22 x 30 (maximum) 2. Goal size – 9 x 4.5 ft. (or height of corner pole) 3. 3 metre goalkeeper area. 4. 3 players on field per team. The Goalkeeper also plays out during game. The Goalkeeper should be encouraged to only use their hands inside the goalkeeper area. 5. If ball goes out of play on sideline, restart using kick-in from where the ball left the field. If the ball goes out of play at end-line, restart with goal kick or corner kick. If a goal is scored, the restart is taken at centre. When the restart kick is taken, all opposing players must be at least 5 yards from the player taking the kick. 6. Ball size – 3. 7. Teams will play two games concurrently, side by side with 3 players in each game. The games shall be divided into two halves of 25 minutes maximum each and a 5-minute break at half time. 8. Maximum roster size – 12 players. 9. One coach or team official from each team is allowed on the field of play while the game is in progress. Coaches or team officials will not be allowed inside the crease or behind the goal, and should refrain from physically being in the areas where their presence will impede the game. 10. Both teams are responsible for setting up the fields of play and supplying a game ball. U7 Guidelines1. Field size – 20 x 30 metres (minimum); 25 x 36 metres (maximum). 2. Goal size – 9 x 4.5 ft. (or height of corner pole) 3. 3 metre goalkeeper area. 4. 4 players on field per team, including one designated goalie. 5. If ball goes out of play on sideline, restart using throw-in. If ball goes out of play at end-line, restart with goal kick or corner kick. If goal scored, restart at centre. When the restart kick or throw is taken, all opposing players must be at least 5 yards from the player taking the kick/throw. 6. Ball size – 3. 7. Teams will play two games concurrently, side by side with 4 players in each game. The games shall be divided into two halves of 25 minutes maximum each and a 5-minute break at half time. 8. Maximum roster size – 16 players. 9. One coach or team official from each team is allowed on the field of play while the game is in progress. Coaches or team officials will not be allowed inside the crease or behind the goal, and should refrain from physically being in the areas where their presence will impede the game. 10. Both teams are responsible for setting up the fields of play and supplying a game ball. U8 – U9 Guidelines1. Field size – 30 x 40 metres (minimum); 36 x 55 metres (maximum). 2. Goal size – 15 x 6 ft. 3. 10 metre goalkeeper area 4. Ball size – 4. Home team to supply. 5. 6 players on the field for each team including one designated goalie. 6. Maximum roster size – 12 players 7. Game shall be divided into two 30-minute halves maximum with a 5-minute break at half time. 8. No offsides. 9. Restarts from goal kicks, corner kicks, throw-ins or from centre as per regulation soccer rules. Throw-ins are the same as in F.I.F.A. soccer except, when foul throws are taken, the referee or coach may instruct the player after which that player may retake the throw-in. If a foul throw results the second time, the throw-in will then go to the opposing team. 10. If foul takes place inside the opponents goalkeeper area, the game will be restarted on the goalkeeper line, parallel to the goal line at the point nearest to where the ball was located when play was stopped. U10 GuidelinesWith the exception of the following, all guidelines in the U8 & U9 divisions apply. 1. Field size – 40 x 60 metres. 2. 7 players on the field for each team including one designated goalie. 3. Maximum roster size –14 players. 4. Blatant offsides will be called at referee’s discretion. U11- U12 Guidelines 1. Field size – 42 x 60 metres (minimum); 55 x 75 metres (maximum). 2. Goal size – 18 feet wide, 6.5 feet high. 3. 11 metre penalty area in around each goal. There is no separate goal area. 4. 8 players on the field for each team including one designated goalie. 5. Maximum roster size –16 players. 6. Ball size 4. Home team to supply. 7. Match will be divided into two halves of 30 minutes each. Half time interval of 5 minutes. 8. All other rules to comply with BC Soccer Rules and Regulations. Purchasing Policy & Equipment1. The Director of Equipment shall coordinate all purchases of equipment and operating supplies such as paint. 2. Approval for expenditure shall be done by way of a budget by majority vote of the Board. Where expenditures are in excess of the budget, approval must be granted to raise the budget prior to making the expenditure. 3. Where the purchase is a major item such as uniforms, equipment, etc., written competitive quotations should be obtained and copies of these quotations filed with the club treasurer. 4. Where possible local suppliers should be given every opportunity to compete for club business.
